Kerry Donaghy, Respitality Manager
I’ve been a part of Respitality since 2017. My role as Respitality Manager is to oversee the network of local partners and build relationships with the hospitality sector to secure complementary and meaningful short breaks for unpaid carers. The favourite part of my role is hearing the feedback we receive from carers who benefit from the breaks, and the businesses who kindly donate. It really brings it home what a life changing experience people can have from engaging with Respitality.
My professional background has always been in the third sector, specifically focussing on carers needs for 12 years. Prior to this, I worked with local and national housing charities providing direct support to individuals and families affected by homelessness.
Away from work, I take care of myself by popping my headphones on and running around my local area. I love to be near open water - the lapping sound instantly relaxes me, so any trips away will always be near lochs, rivers or the sea! I enjoy winding down by watching crime documentaries (yes, really!) ! I also volunteer at my local Scouting group as a Beavers team leader, supporting weekly sessions for children between 6-8 years old.

I am brand new to the role of Respitality Coordinator and I am delighted to be part of the Shared Care Scotland team.
I worked in partnership with Respitality as a Young Carers worker in a previous role and have seen the positive impact that accessing meaningful short breaks can have on unpaid carers. I am excited to work alongside our partners to continue to support and develop Respitality.
I have always enjoyed working with people and my professional background is a mixture of the arts, education and third sector.
Outside of work I like to walk in all weathers, explore different cities (the more industrial the better) and love to cook! I love dogs and always enjoy a bit of dog chat (with dogs and humans).
